Those that today are hamlets of the municipality of Bevagna invariably originate as fortifications, often Lombard, and present surprisingly well-preserved historic centers.
\nTry to enter on tiptoe, within the walls of the ancient fortresses, and discover how these villages, in other parts of Italy desolately empty, are instead inhabited and alive. Artists and professionals have in fact chosen them as a retirement place or as a place to live and work, along with the many Umbrians who, understanding the inestimable value of living on a human scale, have never left them. \nStagione consigliata:<\/strong> tutto l\u2019anno, ma, nei mesi estivi, va affrontato nelle prime ore del mattino e dopo lunghi periodi di pioggia i numerosi tratti argillosi possono mettere in difficolt\u00e0 i cavalieri meno esperti.

ROAD MAP<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]The route starts near Limigiano, the site of a riding school. The ancient castle and abbey (the church of St. Michael the Archangel can be visited) have marked the history of these places and, even today, the inhabitants challenge the “castellans” of the neighboring villages in an exciting competition, the Palio del Sasso.
\nDa Limigiano, seguendo il Cammino degli Angeli e traversando il Parco della Scultura, raggiungerete, per comoda strada sterrata, Castelbuono. La collina di Castelbuono, con le sue immense distese di olivi, \u00e8 stata abitata fino dalla pi\u00f9 remota antichit\u00e0 ma \u00e8 intorno al X secolo che sembra consolidarsi, dopo un lungo processo di incastellamento, nell\u2019attuale cinta muraria.
\nRaggiungete quindi Torre del Colle, borgo che mantiene intatto il suo fascino di castello medievale. Affiliated with the Ghibellines, it was an important garrison over a vast surrounding territory for centuries. Quindi, , costeggiando l\u2019Attone prima, poi per un fitto bosco, salirete al Camping Pian di Boccio (possibilit\u00e0 di ristoro) da cui si scende a Bevagna e, di qui, alla piana, un tempo paludosa, di Cannara, a Cantalupo, l\u2019ultimo dei castelli che tocchiamo in questo giro, sviluppatosi con una forte vocazione agricola intorno a un monastero del quale non esiste ormai pi\u00f9 traccia. Una breve deviazione ci conduce a Pian D\u2019Arca, luogo storicamente attestato della predica di S. Francesco agli uccelli. Qui come altrove, seguite la traccia, volta a ridurre veramente al minimo il transito su strade trafficate.<\/p>\n
